Autonomy Association International Named to Lead NASA Project in Arizona

Silicon Valley Change-Makers Come Together to Demonstrate the Future of Data and Reasoning Services

Mountain View, CA. – NASA has chosen the Autonomy Association International, Inc. (AAI) as its partner to lead a ground-breaking demonstration of new research vital to the advancement of air mobility and drone delivery. The result of this partnership will be a demonstration of Data and Reasoning Fabric, also known as DRF, a complex new capability led by NASA’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley. DRF is part of NASA’s Convergent Aeronautics Solutions project, and is vital to helping advanced air mobility and drone operations reach its full potential for stakeholders, by providing seamlessly connected data and decision-making tools in a marketplace of data and decisions.

The Autonomy Association International, “will be instrumental in enabling the future of machine learning, and taking this one giant leap for machine-kind”, said an AAI company spokesperson. “Machine learning is developing rapidly, and there is a struggle between human and machine decision making, or reasoning. What we are achieving is equally distributing opportunities in an effort to guarantee machine neutrality”.

Autonomy Association International has assembled stakeholders from industry, academia, tribal nations, community organizations, and government who have come together to advance this vital research, including more than 22 cities across Maricopa, Pinal, Pima and Yuma Counties. “Initially focused in Arizona, this work will serve as a blueprint for not only Arizona in how to realize smart data for the autonomous world, but also offer cities across the United States, and the world, a model to execute their own vision of smart mobility”, a company spokesperson said. “We are partnered with the best and the brightest students, business and community leaders who are dedicated to advancing the work of NASA, a national treasure”.

Together, NASA and AAI will help future air mobility reach its potential by utilizing decision making tools in a seamless connected environment, in a host of real-world conditions. The AAI team is uniquely qualified to assist NASA and the industry in this research, and ultimately the near-term result of this partnership will be to determine if DRF will help solve some of aviation’s biggest technical challenges. The Arizona DRF project will be a first-of-its-kind demonstration. AAI has assembled a world-class team of disruptors and stakeholders, including data, reasoning, and infrastructure service providers, flight operators, and governments. The AAI team will establish ongoing external partnerships with service providers, academics, and end users to evaluate DRF capabilities, which will be exhibited in a multi-stakeholder demonstration in late 2022 / early 2023. The collaboration hopes to overcome technical barriers to implementing future air mobility while leveling the playing field for stakeholders in the ecosystem.
